Hot and Cold

England is having a mini-heatwave, which is not much fun for those of us in fur coats. So here's a question: why do they boast about how hot it is, in Fahrenheit, but complain about cold weather in terms of celsius?

Home Alone

Julie has just come back from a two day course. Gemma and I have just come back from two enjoyable days in kennels. All of which means Ian was Home Alone for two days. Gemma and I have carried out a quick inspection of our house and garden and Ian seems to have kept them going, although I'm glad we're back now to keep an eye or four on things.

Cucumber

I don't like cucumber. Ian knows this and has now started telling me that the things he likes that I think I also like, all taste of cucumber. Nice try, but when exactly did they start making cucumber-flavoured digestive biscuits, for example?
